Table requires primary key
Related Messages: 111
Hello John. The manual can be downloaded from our download page. Click "download" on the menu at left. Did you use "Import" to create your dataset? Import will create the necessary primary key field. If you send me the file as email attachment I will be able to diagnose the problem. There is some Import advice on the NeuNet Pro FAQ page. Click NeuNet Home on the menu at left.
Table requires primary key

I am getting the above error message -- is this due to the fact that I have variable names as the first row? If not, how do I resolve it -- I have no text in any fields, all numeric.

Also, is there a manual/guidebook that can be downloaded? I have perused the Help file, but I couldn't find any info on this particular issue, nor about how to let Visirex know what codes are for missing data.
Various Questions

Hello Bob.
Everything I know about that diabetes data is located here.

Please refer to "Choosing between BackProp, Sfam and VisiRex" on the VisiRex FAQ.

The Developer's Kit is free to users WHO REGISTER UP TO LEVEL 8.

All of the sample data from the NeuNet web site will also work with VisiRex. However, NeuNet must be installed to allow this data to extract. Create a new VisiRex project, then point it to the NeuNet Sample (.nns) data. These .nns files are actually Access 97.mdb files.

Regarding references to our algorithms, please refer to "C4.5 Programs for Machine Learning" by J. Ross Quinlan (ISBN 1-55860-238-0). NeuNet Backprop uses the classical backprop algorthim with sigmoid activation described in many text books. SFAM is short for "Simplified Fuzzy Adaptive Resonance Theory Map". The algorithm was described in an excellent article by Tom Kasuba in AI Expert Magazine in November, 1993.
Various Questions
Related Messages:
1. I would like to use the diabetes data that comes with NeuNet Pro in VisiRex?
2. This may be a stupid question from a novice, but why would I use NeuNet instead of VisiRex?
3. Can I use the data (diabetes) data in a publication? Is the email address for Vincent Sigillito correct for permission, if necessary?
4. You state the developer's kit is free UP TO level 8. Would that mean I shall have a copy of the SDK(s)?
5. Is it possible to convert data from NeuNet to/from VisiRex directly?
6. I am writing a research paper comparing Multiple Linear Regression analysis and some form of data mining system, obviously I would like to purchase yours if you can provide references to substantiate the algorithm used. Obviously, I am rather new to data mining but quite secure in statistical methodologies, yet uncomfortable with outcomes analyses associated with alternative medical treatments that are more protocol based rather than a single treatment.
Thanks. Bob
Importing Bug
Related Messages:
When importing a text file you might get a "Create Table" error. This error occurs if there is a space in the file name. Just remove the space. This bug will be fixed in the next version.
Bug Fix

A bug has been fixed where VisiRex would sometimes hang when extracting large trees. Any download of VisiRex 2.1 after today's date has the problem fixed.
This new download may be installed over-top of any previous installation.
New Version VisiRex 2.1
Related Messages:
Version 2.1 was released today. This is a free upgrade for registered users.
- Now connects to ODBC databases
- Now detects and recovers from runaway trees.
- Prune settings are logarithmic for better control.
- Crash when installed to F: drive fixed.
C4.5 Rule Induction

Hello Patricia,
We use the C4.5 technique as you have described it.
Rule induction from decision trees
Related Messages:
Dear,

I'd like to know if you use the algorithm for rule inducting from decision trees proposed by Quinlan in C4.5. In his algorithm, the rules is mapped frm root to leaf, after some condictions are eliminated, and lowest accuracy rules are removed from rule base.

In resume, Do you suggest to use above Quilan algorithm as rule induction from decision trees or another? What would it be?

Thanks,

Patricia.
Access2000

Hi Nicke,
VisiRex was designed to work with data files in the format of Access 95 or 97. If you don't have any version of Access, VisiRex can create the required Access 97 file by using "Import". I don't know "WHY" Microsoft products are not downward compatible. I wonder if Access 2000 can export as 97 or csv? You do not have to use any Access to use VisiRex. We intend to use a generic ODBC connection to any database in future versions.
